Abstract We intend to investigate localization phenomena and dynamical phase transitions in quantum chains with deterministic aperiodic couplings. We will use real-space renormalization-group techniques and density-matrix renormalization-group computational methods in order to investigate quantum (Heisenberg and Potts) spin chains and the fermionic Hubbard chain, focusing on analyzing the emergence of dimerization and the dynamical response to a quantum quench, aiming at better understanding the changes introduced in the ground state and in the dynamics of the systems, when isolated, by combining quantum fluctuations and translation-symmetry breaking. | |
