Abstract

The quickly urbanization of Brazilian cities, first on capitals and followed by the occupation of small towns, reveals their vulnerabilities due to the climate changes. In addition, the human action and the high occupation of urban land result in thermal anomalies, kwon as imbalances in the urban center and temperature differences between neighborhoods or other regions. This project aims to compare current and future thermal scenarios based on urban development and climate changes. The research phase will have four main stages: (I) sizing of thermal anomalies in urban centers using satellite images; (II) on-site measurements at Pinheiros, Itaim Bibi and Limão districts, registering air temperature, mean radiant temperature, air speed and relative humidity; (III) software simulations using ENVI-met v.4 of current and future climate scenarios listed by the IPCC AR6 (2021) (SSP5-8.5, SSP3-7.0 and SSP2-4.5), temporal scenarios in the intervals of 2022 to 2044, 2045 to 2074 and 2075 to 2094, and urban scenarios characterized in the guidelines for urban planning, urban operations and increase in the green area; (IV) elaboration of maps and panoramas of the analyzed area. The result of this project will be a mitigation guideline for the future thermal anomalies in the investigated area.
