Abstract

This research project deals with forgotten and abandoned files and images that have been retrieved after a latency period. We start here with a fieldwork and a documentary analysis in an archive of images: it is the ACHO - Archive Collections of Ordinary Stories, located in the city of Campinas, this archive is an initiative of a group of artists in partnership with collectors of recyclable materials who collect from the streets abandoned photographs that, once they enter the archive they become research and creative material for researchers and artists. Understanding that images are constitutive elements of the experience of being in the world, which are updated each time they are evoked, the research intends to think this file in the "present of its survival". With this, we seek to launch new perspectives on the (social) life of images with regard to the production of places, affections, memories and ruins in their articulations between an imagined past, a lived present and a desire for the future.
