Abstract

Masculinity as an analyzable category (BOTTON, 2007), as well as love are recentin the Social Sciences (VANDENBERGHE, 2006). The literature about both is in intenseconstruction and dispute. Sometimes, they are naturalized, and, even if by omission to theirdebate, they are ratified in their hegemonic constructions. Thus, they are often treated incharge of spontaneity, even though the literature that marks their constructions demonstratethat these subsidized the bourgeois revolution and, therefore, constitute important tools forthe perpetuation of the dominant values in the Occident. Understanding that studies onmasculinity are still rare, as well as theories on love, we intend to study masculinity, throughan empirical space located in the city of Ribeirão Preto/SP, through an ethnography with agroup of men who discuss their masculinities and love through the therapeutical approach. For this, we will mobilize Pierre Bourdieu's Relational Sociology and its concepts, mainlywhen dealing with what an androcentric society means, using Jardim's studies (2017) tounderstand how the new affective forms have been constituted.
