Abstract

This research project aims to study a series of sixteen proceedings against crimes of witchcraft, sorcery and superstition carried out by Spanish courts in the region that comprised the Alcarria of Guadalajara, Castile, between the years 1527 and 1630. This procedural selection is currently divided between the Spanish National Historical Archive and the Diocesan Archive of Cuenca. The twelve-month research period will take place at the Universidad Castilla-la-Mancha under the supervision of Professor Francisco Aranda, PhD, with co-supervision by Professor David Martín López, PhD. This collaboration will allow the applicant to access the above-mentioned files that are only available for consultation in person; such period will also be useful for the applicant to take courses at the university of destination as well as to participate in academic events of interest not only in Spanish territory, but also in other European countries given the importance that the subject has received in the academic world.
