Abstract

This research is a continuation of the results obtaines in the Scientific Initiation, Raciality Device and Epistemicide in Sueli Carneiro (FAPESP). In this project, I propose to understand the power of black resistante in the fight against the raciality device in Carneiros thought. The main object of research is the text The Construction of the Other as Non-Being as the Foundation of Being (2005), recently published as Raciality Devide (2023). For this, at first, i will analyze the concept of raciality device and its connection with the racial contract. Linked to the racial contract, the raciality device influences the production of knowledge, powers and modes of subjectivation of black people, in orden to create forms of subordination and exclusion of the Afro-brazilian population. However, the effects of the device itself create possibilities for the resistance to act against the practices that racism engenders in Brazilian society.In a second moment, i will investigate the attempts to construct a collective politica subject of Brazilian black resistance. My purpose here is to argue that the resistances has the power to propose the creation of a new contract: a contract that is not racial, that desconstructs white supremacy and guarantees racial equity. Thus, my objective in this research is to understand how the resistances fight against the raciality device in Carneiros work.
