Abstract

In The Construction of the Other as Non-Being as foundation of Being, Sueli Carneiro formulates the concept of raciality device, articulating it with the notion of epistemicide. Her goal is to understand the construction of the other and the murder of their knowledge in the domain of relationships ethnic-racial. For Carneiro, the European colonial project and the dissemination of the raciality device are directly linked to the epistemicide of racialized groups (black and indigenous). Focusing on the black Brazilian population, the objective of the research is to examine what is the nature of the relationship between the concepts of raciality device and the epistemicide. Thus, what mobilizes our investigation is to understand how theraciality device is articulated with epistemicide in Carneiro's work. (AU)
