Abstract

This project is about the Brazilian audiovisual of the peasant movement. We will analyze the effective construction of an audiovisual and artistic culture formulated from a rural perspective in the scope of social mobilizations. We intend to think about the urgent need to think of these productions as practices that reveal the autonomy and awareness of peasants in the audiovisual sector, considering the social location of the author of the research, who is a rural settler and filmmaker.Thus, this work involves three important challenges: to reflect on the locus of peasants in Brazilian cinema, taking as a starting point the author of the research as a filmmaker and subject who existentially lives the rural world; to reflect the representation of peasants in Brazilian cinema in general; survey the collection of films that were produced by Brazilian peasants and reflect their aesthetic and thematic approaches, comparing and differentiating this aesthetic with productions erected by non-rural authors.
