Abstract

Health promotion practices become even more important to guarantee the quality of life of people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA), including immunization, which is one of the most economical and effective strategies for protecting individuals from various infectious diseases. Immunization of PLWHA guarantees special protection against preventable diseases and the vaccination schedule must be updated as early as possible after diagnosis, before immunological deterioration, in order to guarantee a better response effectiveness. PLWHA are at greater risk of acquiring vaccine-preventable diseases, and if they acquire these diseases, they are more likely to progress to more severe conditions. Studies show low vaccination coverage of adults and there are gaps in coverage among PLHIV in Brazil. This is a cross-sectional, analytical study whose objective is to analyze the knowledge, beliefs and vaccine hesitancy of people living with HIV/AIDS infection. The study will be carried out in the specialized care services (SAE) of a city in the interior of the State of São Paulo. An individual interview will be held with the participants in a reserved room to ensure the confidentiality of the information obtained. Will be invited to participate in the study PLWHA of both sexes, regardless of the stage of HIV infection that fit the following inclusion criteria: individuals who were in outpatient clinical follow-up in the municipal public network. Data will be collected through a questionnaire containing sociodemographic, clinical and knowledge-related variables, vaccine hesitancy, vaccine portfolio and vaccine coverage in person and online. Data will be collected and stored in Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCAp). Data will be downloaded from REDCAp and into an Excel for Windows spreadsheet, and subsequently exported to a definitive database, using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) program, version 26.0. Soon after, the stage of data categorization will begin, with tables being constructed for exposing the information, interpretation and discussion of the results obtained. Sociodemographic variables will be described using frequency distribution (absolute and relative), median, mean and standard deviation. The outcome variable will be considered adequate knowledge. The association between the various variables and knowledge about the reported vaccination will be verified using the chi-square test with a 5% significance level. The project was submitted and approved by the Research Project Evaluation Committee of the Municipal Health Department of the municipality and the Research Ethics Committee of the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing. Patients will be recruited in the SAE after the medical consultation in a reserved environment, and will be informed about the purpose of the research, risks, and benefits, and those who agreed to participate, must sign the Free and Informed Consent Form (TCLE). The interviews will be held in a room reserved by the researcher and the secrecy and anonymity of the participants will be guaranteed.
