Abstract

The maintenance of urban forests depends on a series of patterns and ecosystem processes, among which stand out the natural regeneration through propagation disseminated in the forest soil, in addition to the potential and germination of the seed bank. Urban forests do not have the same theoretical framework as native Brazilian forest systems, however, the growing demand for strategies for adapting and restoring cities highlights the need to better understand processes associated with urban biodiversity. Thus, this work aims to carry out a floristic survey in four forest fragments in the city of São Paulo, SP, in order to better understand the regenerative stratum of these urban systems. For that, four fragments were chosen in a center-periphery direction, in the city of São Paulo. In the center of the city, Trianon Park was chosen, then Alfredo Volpi Park, then Fontes do Ipiranga State Park and finally Carmo Park. In all areas, 30 plots of 10 x 10 m will be selected from a total of 100 permanent plots already installed (Pereira et al., 2022). In each plot, 3 sampling points of 1 x 1 m will be formed and all existing seedlings will be analyzed, i.e., all individuals with height < 20 cm and DBH d 1 cm (Chami et al., 2011).the taxonomic identification based on the available scientific literature, as well as the bases of open access herbaria. The analyzes will be operated according to the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group system (APG IV, 2016)
