Abstract

Syphilis, an infectious disease relevant to health in Brazil and in the world, has been suffering an increase in incidences, including gestational and congenital syphilis. Adolescents and young people have been flagged as populations at risk for its occurrence. This is directly related to missed opportunities for assistance, especially in the context of primary health care. The objective of this study is to know the perceptions of young women diagnosed with syphilis during the gestational period about the disease and the health care received. This is an exploratory, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach with women who have been diagnosed with syphilis during the gestational period and having the diagnosis occurred in the age group from 15 to 24 years old. For data collection, a semi-structured interview is proposed. It is expected that the results have the potential to qualify health care for women diagnosed with syphilis during prenatal care, as well as contributing to the deepening of discussions and knowledge regarding syphilis care.
