Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of flat design on the cyclic, torsional and bending resistance of Flat File 25.04 NiTi rotary instruments (Mk Life, Porto Alegre, Brazil) in comparison with NiTi rotary instruments 25.04 with no flat design. The cyclic fatigue test will be performed in artificial canal with 600 angle and 5 mm radius of curvature to evaluate the time and number of cycles to instrument fracture. This test will be performed simulating the body temperature (n=10). The torsional test will use a total of 20 instruments (n=10), according the ISO 3630-1. This test will evaluate the torsional strength (N.cm) and angular deflection (º) to instruments fracture at 3 mm from the tip. Also, the bending resistance 600 will evaluate the bending force (g.f) at 5 mm from the tip (n=10). After the cyclic and torsional test, the instruments will be evaluated by Electron Scanning Microscopy to analyze the topographic features of the fractured surfaces. Then, the obtained data will be statically analyzed.
