Abstract

The incorporation of WWTP sludge into soils is one of the beneficial uses pointed out as potential for the proper disposal of these wastes. Among them are the uses in geotechnical works that, in general, are associated with the compaction of these materials in mixtures that have specific characteristics due to the heterogeneity of the chemical composition and the physical structure of soils and sludge. Despite the minimization of the permeability of the mixtures provided by compaction, the environmental safety of the incorporation of this waste as a substitute for natural soils requires the ability to prove that these mixtures will not serve as sources of contamination when subjected to the climatic conditions of the territories. Therefore, this project is proposed with the objective of identifying the concentration of chemical elements present in leachates and solubilized sludge samples and evaluating their toxicity. (AU)
