Abstract Technological advancements and the demand for advanced immersive digital experiences, including the vision around the metaverse, are driving the growing popularity of eXtended Reality (XR). However, providing satisfactory Quality of Experience (QoE) for XR services over 5G and Beyond (5GB) networks remains a challenging topic due to high computational and network resource requirements. This research proposal addresses several key questions for QoE evaluation and analysis of XR services. Specifically, this proposal aims to investigate how to assess and classify XR QoE from end-to-end network traffic, offload XR computational operations to the edge to reduce the load on XR devices, and use the concept of OpenRAN to meet the traffic requirements of XR services. This proposal outlines the research goals, methodology, and potential research plan for each research question. (AU) | |
