Abstract

Very little is known about the microbial diversity of microorganisms associated with non-filtering marine organisms. Thus, it is necessary to investigate the microbiota of different non-filtering marine organisms, and the secondary metabolism of these strains, aiming to verify if the secondary metabolism expressed by these strains is significantly distinct from cosmopolitan microbial strains. This project aims to investigate the biology and chemistry of a strain of fungus not yet identified (code M28): a) reactivate the strain and obtain an appropriate culture for its taxonomic identification by specialists; b) if you carry out the growth on a larger scale of the culture medium of this strain, for the isolation of bioactive metabolites; c) identifying at least some of the isolated metabolites; d) submit the isolated metabolites and identified to anti-plasmodial, anti-Leishmania, anti-T. cruzi, anti-fungal, cytotoxic against tumor cells and antimicrobial activity against bacterial strains antibiotic-resistant pathogens.
