Abstract Elastography is a technique based on the measurement of mechanical characteristics from the deformation generated by a stress applied to the sample [2]. One of its aspects, pulse emission acoustography (APE), starts from the same concept using the non-linearity of the acoustic interaction of ultrasonic pulses focused on the sample. Previous studies by the GIIMUS group demonstrated that this technique is sensitive to the identification of pores in biological tissues [1], awakening the motivation to apply and study the method in depth. In this project, together with the Innovation in Manufacturing and Precision Engineering laboratory of the School of Engineering of São Carlos, an in-depth study of the application of APE for the characterization of viscoelastic properties, porosity and morphology of trabecular bones will be carried out. humans. For this, measurements will be performed on several samples of human bones by two different excitation protocols: by a single focused pulse and by a double ultrasonic beam, which will be compared with previously obtained micro-CT images and data. | |
