Abstract

Chagas disease is an endemic parasitic disease in Brazil, responsible for countless deaths annually. The natural history of the disease progresses with the involvement of myocytes, causing inflammation and cardiac fibrosis that result in ventricular remodeling. The treatment boils down to containing the symptoms of heart failure, when presented, since there is no medication capable of acting in the process described above in order to promote cardiac restructuring. The present project aims to carry out a retrospective analysis, with a convenience sample, to stratify the symptoms resulting from cardiac remodeling and its repercussions in comparison with the estimated ejection fraction according to Simpson's method on the echocardiogram. The participants approached to participate in the study are assisted by the GEDoCh - Chagas Disease Study Group at the Faculty of Medicine at UNICAMP and must meet the requirements stipulated as inclusion criteria. Of which stands out the need to be classified as to symptoms such as New York Heart Association as II, III or IV; or class C and D. Once the research project has been explained to the participant, doubts cleared and participation has been consented by signing the Free and Informed Consent Form, the data from your medical record will be attached to the specific base. Finally, we intend to statistically analyze the data collected in search of symptomatological patterns corresponding to the evolution of the loss of ejection fraction. The results must be published in a scientific article.
