Abstract

Food systems are the entire range of actors, actions and interactions related to the production, processing, distribution, consumption and disposal of food. They have been a new way of understanding the globalized world with current epidemiological and nutritional conditions and are the main drivers of the global syndemic of malnutrition, obesity and climate change. However, as it is very complex, with many agents and interactions, there is a lack of evidence regarding the dynamics of food systems and their impacts on health and the environment, especially in the Global South. Thus, the objective of this project is to contribute to carry out an integrative review of food systems in order to help develop the conceptual model of the Brazilian food system. The search will be conducted in the MEDLINE (PubMed), EMBASE, Web of Science (WOS), Scopus, Virtual Health Library (BVS), LILACS, CAPES Journals, and Scielo databases. The search strategy will be based on terms of the title, abstract or keywords of the works and followed the logic of multiple combinations between keywords, such as food system, global syndemic, malnutrition, obesity, climate change, eating behavior, etc. The Rayyan platform will be used for screening titles, abstracts, and full-text articles, as well as eliminating duplicate articles. It is expected that with the integrative review, it will be possible to create a conceptual model of Brazilian food systems, which will be developed by a doctoral student.
