Abstract

This is a request for a CI scholarship for a candidate previously selected by the Brazilian Academy of Sciences. According to our understanding, this is a 50-day internship, to be completed here in our laboratory. The idea is that the student gets in touch with various techniques and that they can understand how they work until the end of the internship. Therefore, we developed an infection strategy with Cryptococcus neoformans, which is relatively rapid, and the student will have time to quantify the amount of fungi, isolate leukocytes from tissues and characterize them, prepare slides for histology and examine them, culture fungi and learn cytometry. The idea is to give the student an overview of the main techniques we use here in the laboratory. (AU)
