Abstract

This project proposes an integration with ongoing research that involves a partnership between researchers from different Brazilian states ("Geometry and technologies in New High School Mathematics textbooks"), and aims to understand the presence of Geometry in textbooks (LD) of the New High School (NHS) based on the focus on Analytical Geometry content. Understanding how geometric concepts are presented/constructed in textbooks, the nature of the activities, and the relationships made with other areas and with everyday life are central themes of this proposal, whose guiding question is: "How is Analytical Geometry present in the textbooks of NHS?". To this end, a qualitative analysis will be carried out from the point of view of content (geometric) and material (textbook), as well as a theoretically based discussion on teacher training, in order to glimpse reflection on the different approaches present in textbooks, supporting a conscious choice of the textbook to be adopted in their classes. Furthermore, it is expected that a contribution, even if indirect, will be made to the National Textbook and Material Teaching Program (PNLD), since the discussions resulting from the research can encourage the improvement of this material, so that the issues discussed can provide support to both textbook authors and PNLD evaluators.
