Abstract

This project aims to determine the amount of wear and surface roughness of resin composites containing dicalcium phosphate dihydrate particles (DCPD, CaHPO4.2H2O) subjected to wear by toothbrushing. Five materials, two of which commercial controls (a resin composite and a glass ionomer cement), a experimental control (composite containing 50 vol% barium glass) and two experimental composites experimental samples containing 50 vol% inorganic content and "DCPD: glass" ratios of 3:1 and 1:3 will be subjected to wear in a toothbrushing machine (20 thousand cycles, 1 Hz, 250 g, n=10). Analysis of surface loss (in relation to the non-brushed area) and roughness (initial versus final) will be carried out using an optical profilometer. The data will be analyzed by ANOVA/Tukey test (alpha: 5%).
