Abstract

The JP2 proposal to which this request is associated consists on the application of the vibrational ion IRMPD spectroscopy and differential ion mobility (FAIMS) for the study of complex reactive systems, like polymerization reactions and formation of electrochemical (EC) reactive intermediates on the context of drug metabolism and degradation. To achieve these goals, a FAIMS device need to be installed and validated, as well as the EC-MS system. Besides that, the FAIMS device, that is not compatible to the IRMPD capable ion trap developed during the JP1 project, will have to be modified and adapted to be coupled to IRMPD spectroscopy, constituting the state-of-the-art platform (FAIMS-IRMPD-ESI) for the study of convoluted reaction systems in complex matrices. This would allow the differentiation of isomers in, virtually, any chemical system, not only enhancing the quality and scope of our research, but also allowing the access of external users to these state-of-the-art techniques as successfully implemented during the JP1 project.
