Abstract

This project aims to carry out an empirical extension of the research entitled Gestos docentes inscritos nas práticas de dança: um estudo sobre a série Figuras da dança, which began in 2022 at the graduate course of the Faculdade de Educação da Universidade de São Paulo, with funding from the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (Fapesp). This research focuses on the discourse on education mobilized in the field of brazilian the audiovisual series Figuras da Dança, produced by São Paulo Companhia de Dança, which focuses on 40 personalities in the history of this artistic field in the country. In dialog with the thought of Michel Foucault, the study takes dance as a practice positioned in current modes of ruling. In order to expand the empirical corpus of the current investigation, this the audiovisual series produced by the company Mares do Sul, and aired by Rádio e Televisão de Portugal (RTP), entitled Portugal que Dança, which features the careers of 17 portuguese dance personalities. It is a collection similar to the Brazilian one, and together they form a relevant documentary archive on the history of dance in both countries. More specifically, the aim is to analyze the archive in question in a comparative way, through the configuration of what, in both contexts, the protagonists evoked with regard to their teaching: the ideas they proposed, the values they intended to disseminate, in short, their educational legacy. Thus, this stage of the study involves immersion in archives and supplementary studies, as well as participation in a research group at the Universidade do Porto. This immersion will provide an expanded view of the encounter between dance and education.
