Abstract

Astrophysical and cosmological probes reveal that about 85% of the matter content of the universe is of unknown composition. For this reason, it is generally accepted that a new electrically neutral, cosmologically stable, and non-baryonic type of matter is out there to be discovered. This dark matter appears in many extensions of the Standard Model which aim to solve other problems related to particle physics. The Inert Double Model (IDM) is the Z_2 -symmetric version of the popular Two-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM), containing scalar (or pseudoscalar) dark matter candidate in its spectrum. This project aims at calculating and solving the vacuum stability conditions for IDM bymeans of a direct method called copositivity. These conditions constrain the parameter space of the IDM relevant for dark matter phenomenology in a way that is complementary to the limits from dark matter direct and indirect detection experiments as well as collider searches.
