Abstract

The concept of flourishing can be considered an expansion of the health concept, including other aspects of an individuals life, such as happiness and satisfaction of life, purpose, and meaning of life and relationships. Although observational studies have already demonstrated promising results of the flourishing approach in health outcomes, there is still a gap in the literature regarding intervention studies, especially those of low cost and feasibility in public health. The objectiv of the study is to evaluate determinants of success and failure of the "Flourishing Program" intervention as predictors for patients with mild and moderate depressive symptoms. A mixed design study with a quasi-experimental approach associated with a qualitative approach will recruit participants between 18 and 59 years old with mild or moderate depressive symptoms. To investigate the predictors outcomes, logistic and linear regression models will be performed for depression and anxiety. A qualitative content analysis will be carried out from multiple sources of data (discourse of the participants during the 12 weekly intervention sessions carried out with different groups in different rounds), in which predetermined categories will be used as an initial scheme coding. Through weekly meetings, preliminary analyses, main results and final analyzes will be shared and reviewed with the study team. It is expected to find predictors that can detail the profile of patients with better beneficial outcomes in the intervention, as well as understanding the phenomenon of flourishing in sessions and the role of the facilitator in group dynamics.
