Abstract

In recent years, narrative has been presented as a source of data production for various investigations in the field of Human and Social Sciences, among which Education stands out. In this direction, at the present time, many researchers seek to narrate people's meanings and experiences, to understand their life itineraries in formation and, in our case, in TRANS/formation. In contemporary society it is no longer appropriate to discuss and talk about gender from the perspective of binarism (woman/man), we live in post-modernity and, increasingly, silenced bodies are awakened by transforming into what they want to be more, thus breaking with imposed stereotypes due to the limitations of the biological sex with which they were born. That said, the present study, with a post-structuralist bias, aims to analyze the life stories of transsexual and transvestite people based on their school experiences through which Mathematics, as a school subject, is present (or not) in the processes of identity constitution. . To this end, using the narrative method of the German sociologist Fritz Schütze, we will interview students and/or employees at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), an institution that is a reference in affirmative actions, about the educational process throughout their trajectory in Basic Education. As a result, because we are at the intersection of Gender studies and Mathematics Education, we believe it is possible to raise indicators that highlight the social representations constituted from the relationship with this area of knowledge.
