Abstract

Introduction: Obstructive sleep apnea is a respiratory disorder that can cause with sleep disorders and, therefore, early diagnosis is essential to improve patients' quality of life. The tests currently used for screening children at high risk for OSA have not been studied in those with cleft lip and palate. Objective: Evaluate the new PSQ-Cleft Test as a way of screening for the diagnosis of OSA in patients with cleft lip and palate. Methods: The sample will be recruited by convenience during the attendance of participants for routine treatment. The data collectioninvolves filling out a registration form, followed by an assessment of the disorders sleep-related respiratory symptoms: "Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire" (PSQ) and"Pediatric Sleep Questionnaire - Cleft Lip and Palate" (PSQ-Cleft), and the type 1 polysomnography. Data collection will take place after signing the Term of Free and Informed Consent and Terms of Free and Informed AssentClarified and after approval by the Institutional Ethics Committee. The sample estimated for the present study consists of 90 individuals. Resultsexpected: The PSQ-Cleft is expected to present sensitivity and specificity suitable for screening children with cleft lip and palate and apnea obstructive sleep.
