Abstract

The primary aim of this study is to assess disparities in technical efficiency and technological gap within soybean production across rural properties in São Paulo state, while also investigating the influence of digital technologies on these disparities. To this end, primary data will be collected from a sample of 163 rural properties in São Paulo through structured questionnaires. Data analysis will be carried out by applying the sample selectivity model for the production frontier. Anticipated outcomes include the quantification of the impact of digital technologies on both technical efficiency and technological gap among soybean properties. Additionally, we aim to evaluate the synergistic effects that arise from the adoption of two or more digital technologies on the overall performance of rural properties. This research will also facilitate an in-depth understanding of the characteristics of soybean production technologies, including aspects such as returns to scale, factor substitution elasticities, partial production elasticities, and more. Ultimately, this study will provide valuable insights for devising strategies aimed at enhancing resource efficiency, promoting environmental sustainability, and ensuring economic viability in soybean production at São Paulo state.
