Abstract The mobile networks operating in rural areas must overcome challenges in terms of coverage, throughput, and number of connected devices. In this scenario, the control and configuration of the physical and MAC layers become a considerable challenge since several factors must be jointly considered to define how the radio access network must operate. The network parametrization shall be dynamic, taking the channel conditions, the quality of service requested by the users, type of application, and priority into consideration. The researcher responsible by this work plan will act in the three activities defined in the work package named Algorithms for Physical Layer, fully integrated with the other researchers in this work package. The goal is to allow the operation of a cognitive radio, the platform for the software defined radio and the algorithms for resource allocation to be compatible with the dynamic parametrization and reconfiguration of the radio access network.
