Abstract

Currently, climate change and microbial resistance can be considered substantial and interconnected global public health challenges. According to World Health Organization, between 2030 and 2050, climate change is expected to be related to around 250 000 additional deaths per year, from malnutrition, infectious diseases and heat stress. In addition, it is estimated that microbial resistance could be responsible for around 10 million deaths each year, by 2050. Besides emergency, severity and global scale, their interconnection refers to climate change beinga drive factor of microbial resistance, since the increase in temperature may favor the selection ofresistant isolates. In addition, climatic alterations caused by anthropic interventions is also related to land use modification associated with deforestation that shifts host/vector interactions, elevates disease risk, and drives wildlife zoonotic disease emergence, making the human health increasingly vulnerable. In this context, we will propose to investigate different statistical approaches to assess therelationship between microbial resistance and climate change, considering that this field ofresearch is little explored for Brazilian data.
