Abstract

With the traditional conception of development for the Mossés and the Bambaras, respectively in Burkina Faso and Mali, this study explores the notion of responsibility of people living in a same society regarding the lives of each other. It analyzes the problem of memory, inequality, and difference production that permeates relational processes, discussing the ethos of relationality and conviviality proposed by Burkinabé and Malian youth in their claims and strategies of struggle for civil rights, and the contemporary conditions/implications of implementing traditional notions of development and social justice. Keywords: Africa, tradition e development; Memory, difference and relations; Burkina Faso, Mali.
