Abstract

Introduction: Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SPH) is characterized by high levelsserum levels of parathyroid hormone (PTH) due to chronic kidney disease (CKD). The treatmentSurgical surgery (parathyroidectomy, PTx) is considered as a therapeutic option when HPS isrefractory to clinical therapy. The literature suggests reciprocal effects of PTH variations onserum catecholamines and these on the value of this hormone, in addition to cardiotoxic effects ofPTH, which may be an important factor in the pathophysiology of sympathetic activityand cardiovascular disease in CKD with HPS. However, the effect of PTH onsecretion of endothelial catecholamines still remains uncertain, which corroborates theneed for the present study to elucidate the effects of PTH and PTx on them. Objectives: To evaluate the acute effects (after 24h) of PTH suppression through PTx,on hemodynamic parameters and serum levels of endothelial catecholamines, in a modelof animal experimentation. Materials and methods: Animal experimentation study, of the type"before and after". The diets of all groups are the same, differing only in the presenceand adenine concentration in the groups that will have induced CKD. The groups will be divided intoaccording to what they will be subjected to: control, sham-PTx, PTx. The parameters evaluated inall groups will be weight, blood pressure, heart rate, and serum levels ofcreatinine, urea, calcium, phosphorus, PTH, and endothelial catecholamines by spectrometrypasta (6-nitrodopamine, 6-nitroadrenaline, 6-cyanodopamine, 6-iododopamine). Resultsexpected: It is expected to observe a significant variation in serum catecholamine levelsendothelial cells and hemodynamic parameters in the acute phase (24 h post-PTx) in relation tobasal levels
