Abstract

This study aims to investigate the reactivity of acidic resins through mathematical modeling. A copolymerization model will be used to evaluate the reactivity of these resins, allowing estimation of the distribution of chain sequences along their polymeric matrices. Subsequently, a kinetic modeling analysis will be conducted, providing a comprehensive review of the literature on acidic ion exchange resins, with a focus on the copolymerization of cross-linked styrene with divinylbenzene. The project development will involve the formulation of a mathematical model to estimate the catalytic efficiency of an ion exchange resin. This model will be evaluated using various datasets from the literature to test its validity, implemented and tested through SCILAB software, with adjustments made to ensure precision in representation. Result analysis will focus on catalytic efficiency in different scenarios, offering insights to comprehend the behavior of the resin as a catalyst.
