Abstract

For many years, several specialists from areas linked to agricultural economics and regional development have been carefully analyzing and following the growing evolution of the aquaculture production and business chain in Brazil, especially shrimp farming in the Northeast, fish in excavated ponds in the South, Center -West and North and net tanks installed in dams in the Southeast and Northeast. Thus, this research proposal aims to analyze the historical evolution of the concentration and specialization of the production of different species of fish (tilapia, tambaqui, painted, pacu/patinga, pirarucu and trout) cultivated in the 137 geographic microregions of Brazil, between the years of 2013 , when data collection began by IBGE and, 2021. To this end, (PPM) carried out by IBGE will be used to determine the indicators of concentration (Gini Locational) and productive specialization (Locational Quotient). The current economic reality of selected territories will also be verified, estimating the distribution of producers in the municipalities that make up the microregions, value of fish production, volume and scale of production using combined data from the 2018 Agricultural Census and PPM, using, for this purpose, descriptive statistics techniques. Additionally, the two-way joining multivariate grouping method will be used to maximize the visualization of the results obtained. Statistical analyzes (descriptive and multivariate) will be carried out using the STATISTICA 14 software (TIBCO). It is worth noting that this Scientific Initiation Scholarship project will integrate research financed by FAPESP in process 2022/14453-6.
