Abstract

The objective of the project is to organize a podcast focused on artificial intelligence under the responsibility of BI0S - Brazilian Center of Data Science, supported by FAPESP in Process 2020/09838-0. BI0S has been working in data science, including the use of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning to solve societal problems related to its 3 research tracks: Agro, Health and Method. To achieve this, it brings together an interdisciplinary team involving researchers from basic and applied science, as well as professionals close to the productive sector. BI0S has a structure that is able to generate knowledge and transmit it in the form of formal education as well as non-formal activities, involving scientific dissemination, communication on social media and events.Artificial intelligence is already impacting our lives and this impact will increase in the near future. The change will have severe consequences on society and its very foundations, such as democracy, employment and means of production, among others. Understanding, discussing and having an educated opinion on how this change takes place and its future implications is an essential part of contemporary citizenship. The problem concerns society as a whole. People need to understand first and foremost what artificial intelligence is and how it works. Why has it become so present in our lives? How do machines "learn"? What does this learning mean? How can a computer talk to a human in natural language? How can society limit the consequences of the indiscriminate adoption of artificial intelligence tools?Beneficiaries of the scholarships must, within a period of 6 months, propose the general structure of the podcast, script and produce initial episodes, which will be reported within the proposed deadlines. If this first stage is successful, it is expected that a periodic podcast, covering different aspects of artificial intelligence and also the production of video reels for social media, will remain as a permanent feature.
