Abstract

Brazil is a pioneer in providing health services for transgender people through specialized public centers. Health professionals base their practices on specific guidelines provided by medical societies, such as the Endocrine Society and SUS care protocols, to ensure adequate care. Meanwhile, in Spain, a Bill, approved in 2022, aims to guarantee equal rights for trans people, establishing that public administrations must develop specific protocols for the health care of trans and intersex people, as well as create specialized services and promote training of health professionals on diversity. This context raises questions about how care for trans people has been provided in Spain and whether training policies have been implemented to guarantee comprehensive care for this population. Thus, the proposed research project's main objective is to identify the actions of Spanish health professionals in caring for trans men seeking medical transitions. This is a qualitative research to be carried out in the city of Seville (Spain) through the observation of health centers that provide care to trans people and discussion of the data produced in the research developed in Brazil with the Grupo de Investigación y Desarrollo de Human Resources. To do this, the student/researcher will use the research diary, which will be analyzed through content analysis and, subsequently, compared their findings with the theoretical framework of Institutional Analysis.
