Abstract

This study aims to identify the recurring situations of risk, conflicts and socioenvironmental impacts in Minas Gerais associated to the mining-industrial activity between the years of 2019 and 2023. Methodologically, this is a quantity and qualitative study, upheld by the ongoing dialogue with the at hand literature on the subject. For the research process, systematization and classification of the situations of risk, as well as the conflicts, the period between 2019 and 2023 will be analyzed, from which we will collect data along with eletronic sites of news, followed by the categorization of events between conflicts and risk and its impacts on their typification, as suggested by Firmiano, Teixeira e Loureiro (2024). On another view, situations of risk which envolve the mining barrage in Minas Gerais will be listed and analyzed, based on the reports of the Superintendence of Mining Barrage Safety, from the National Mining Agency, published between the years 2019 and 2023. Once found the empiric evidences on the subject of research, the intention is to go back to the theoretical discussion, aiming to confront it with the at hand literature meaning to search for its recurrences and contingencies. The research subscribes itself on the scope of the project "Metabolic rift and the structural crisis of capital: the mining-industrial complex in Minas Gerais State and the tendency to eliminate the elementary conditions of social reproduction", financed by CNPq, through the Call CNPq/MCT no. 10/2003, Process no. 403791/2023-5.
