Memories about the Bauru (SP) railway complex: identification between the cultural asset and the local population

Abstract

This research project aims to identify if there are perceptions and memories of the community around the Railway Complex of Bauru (SP), in order to verify whether they are considered in the municipal management of the industrial heritage. Dialoguing thus with the concept of cultural heritage from a memorial and identity perspective, from the texts of some authors who deal with this theme (FONSECA, 2003, MENESES, 2006, PELEGRINI, 2006, POLLAK, 1992), we intend to analyze the relationships of the population to the object, identifying their memories, perceptions and values. The cultural heritage understood then as a set of material and "immaterial" (subjective), allows us to map symbolic contents of a given population, allowing us to perceive which and why certain spaces have meanings and values that are associated with memory. For this, it will be necessary to carry out the field collection performed from interviews with the residents of the surroundings of the Railway Complex. We believe that research can bring contributions to the area, because, in addition to bringing methodological innovations, may also based on the results expected from the interviews, such as the description of memories related to the object, the dimension of affective and subjective values, the perception of the population in relation to the patrimonial value of the Ensemble and consequently the application of municipal management, identify existing public policies related to heritage preservation and on comparisons propose new measures and new policies.
