Abstract

The aspects that differentiate a quantum system and a classical system allow us to thinkof many applications in information theory. Quantum information and quantum communicationstudy how to use quantum systems to implement information processes. Theydo not substitute the actual technology, but open new possibilities on how to manipulateinformation. An important platform to implement quantum information protocols are thephotonic chips, that allow us scalability, versatility and stability. In this work we willstudy the possible degrees of freedom that can be used to encode information with focusin implementations using d-level systems, the qudits.
