Abstract

The Brazilian constituent, in general, is a renegade of the past, without many influences on national hermeneutic thought or jurists concerned with institutional stability. The present investigation is placed precisely in this gap, based on qualitative empirical research into the annals of the constituent assembly to rethink the relationship between democracy and constitutionalism, as well as the very foundation of the so-called Citizen Constitution. The discursive analysis carried out has as its object the days of November 24, 1987 and January 5, 1988, when the work of the constituent assembly was paralyzed due to dissatisfaction with the progress of the work on the part of the conservative bloc. Therefore, the research is in the review phase of the data collected as well as theoretical discussion based on the results obtained so far. To continue this investigation, through this project, we request a Research Internship Scholarship Abroad at the Instituto de Estudios Interdisciplinarios en América Latina (INDEAL) at the University of Buenos Aires, under the supervision of Dr. Paula Biglieri. By developing an interdisciplinary research nucleus concerned with issues related to social dynamics and populism, as well as discussions involving representation and legitimacy, the intended internship has the potential to advance the research in development. This is because the exchange enables the contestation of the data and partial conclusions reached so far, in addition to improving the epistemological tools used based on the established theoretical framework, in the case of Ernesto Laclau.
