Abstract

Analyzing environmental legislation for the preservation and intervention of areas located along rivers in Brazil (established in Federal Law nº 4.771/1965 and ratified by Laws nº 12.651/2012 and nº 14.285/2021), it is clear that the definition of homogeneous parameters for the delimitation of Permanent Preservation Areas - APPs, it disregards the specificities of the different existing phytophysiognomies, the identities, particularities and diverse relationships of use of rivers. The same can be said about the different forms of urbanization throughout these spaces, which present diverse and unequal structures. Based on these considerations, the general objective of this work is to formulate, through the perspective of geographic theory, from two interrelated concepts - territory used and geographical situation - a proposal for typologies for APPs in the city of São Paulo, focusing on those that never received structural interventions. This proposal aims to support the development of the Conservation and Restoration Program for the municipality's APPs, provided for in Action 1, of the Municipal Plan for Protected Areas, Green Areas and Free Spaces (PLANPAVEL), in addition to contributing to better management of these spaces, aiming, through the analysis of different variables and their combinations, at a new way of thinking and intervening along the municipal rivers, guaranteeing not only their preservation, but also their appropriate use and considering local particularities.
