Abstract

This research focuses on the analysis of circumferential conical slot antennas with multiple loaded vias, aiming to achieve frequency and pattern electronic reconfiguration. These antennas are particularly suitable for missiles and rockets, and their reconfigurability can be realized by placing varicap diodes at the ends of the metallic vias. The resonant cavity model and the magnetic current model are applied to conduct the analysis, as they offer a good balance between accuracy and computational effort. Moreover, they allow us to easily account for the effects of the vias loads. The derived expressions for the input impedance and radiated fields are coded in Matlab to develop a computational tool for the analysis and design of these conical antennas. To validate the proposed formulation, we compare the obtained results with those from the commercial simulator Ansys HFSS, using the finite element method solver.
