Abstract

Rupture of the cranial cruciate ligament (CrCL) has a strong correlation with degeneration of the knee joint in canines, with tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO) being one of the most studied techniques for biomechanical correction of the movement of this joint. When performing this technique, some standardized measurements and points are used in order to pre-determine the site of the osteotomy and the necessary rotation so that the angulation of the tibial plateau (TPA) is adequate, ensuring that the procedure is performed safely, without having the tibial tuberosity weakened. This study aims to evaluate the equivalence of the points observed in the pre-surgical radiographic planning with the anatomical reference points in the surgical procedure (intraoperative), by marking them on cadavers (n=15) with radiopaque objects for subsequent analysis of their correspondence in the radiographic examination. It is intended that the results obtained in this study improve the accuracy of performing the TPLO and guarantee greater equivalence between the planning carried out through radiography and the final practical result.
