Abstract

The Bolsa Estágio de Pesquisa no Exterior (BEPE) grant request will focus on studying innovation districts and science and technology parks in Argentina. The goal of the BEPE project is to examine these districts and parks, which align with fourth-generation knowledge territories, by exploring their governance structures, involved actors, adopted policies, participatory processes, sustainability aspects, and physical-spatial aspects, with a particular emphasis on sustainable urban mobility. Field visits and semi-structured interviews with stakeholders involved in the development of Argentinian technology parks and innovation districts will be conducted. The prominent cases include Parque Tecnológico del Litoral Centro (PTLC) in Santa Fe, Distrito Tecnológico de Parque Patricios, and Buenos Aires Innovation Park in Buenos Aires. These parks follow the fourth-generation approach within knowledge territories and are recognized by the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) and The Global Institute on Innovation Districts Networks. Collaboration with experienced researchers at the Centro de Estudios Urbanos y Regionales (CEUR) of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET), as well as the case studies identified in the research, will be instrumental in proposing effective and viable strategies for knowledge-based urban territories.
