Abstract

Representatives' requests are instruments used by legislators to address the Executive branchsecretaries and agencies on numerous matters, particularly those related to the provision ofpublic policies demanded by voters. These requests are, therefore, an interesting topic forunderstanding the connections between electoral strategies and public policies, especially giventhe scholarly debate on how councilors' electoral strategies are associated with their use of theserequests. To contribute to this debate, this research investigates the use of representatives'requests in the case of the municipality of São Paulo.
