Abstract

This research is part from the project "Flora Fanerogâmica do Estado de São Paulo", coordinated by the Instituto de Pesquisas Ambientais of the state of São Paulo. The focus of this research is a taxonomic treatment of the tribes elnging to theHeliantheae Alliance (Asteraceae) for the state. Asteraceae is one of the largest plant families and is represented in São Paulo by 190 genera and 786 sprcies. The clade Heliantheae Alliance is consideredo the most derived within the family and ecompasses eight tribes in Brazil (Bahieae, Coreopsideae, Helenieae, Heliantheae sensu stricto, Millerieae, Neurolaeneae, Tageteae and Eupatorieae). Our aim is to know the members of seven tribes (except for Eupatorieae) present in the state of São Paulo, and to produce a monograph on the species, including identification keys, descriptions and taxonomic comments, as well as data on their geographic distribution. The research will be based on to the literauture, field collections, analyses of specimens housed in São Pualo herbaria, as well as consults to data avaliable at virtual repositories and digital platforms. Results will be published as a chapter within the book series entitled "Flora Fanerogâmica do estado de São Paulo".
