Abstract

Introduction: Characterized by persistent airway airflow limitation, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a heterogeneous, progressive, irreversible lung disease with high rates of exacerbations in these individuals. Understood as exacerbation of chronic symptoms that intercurs as acute worsening, exacerbation is an event that affects the risk of greater loss of lung function, morbidity and mortality and hospitalizations. In this sense, telemedicine can be presented as a technological tool in the management of self-care, monitoring and continuing education of patients and their families, and can contribute to the reduction of risks and emergencies in this population. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of telemedicine in reducing the frequency of exarcebations and re-hospitalizations resulting from COPD, in additionto identifying the coverage in diverse social classes and the technical protocolsthat make up telemedicine. Methodology: A systematic literature review will be performed integrated with meta-analysis with protocol (PRISMA), with inclusion criteria: a) clinical studies, randomized clinical studies, meta-analysis and systematic reviews; b) with a period d10 years, c) published in English and Portuguese and d) which have the descriptors "COPD", "Telemedicine", "Symptom Flare Up".
