Abstract

The increase in the use of extended Reality (XR) technologies, such as Augmented Reality (AR) andVirtual Reality (VR) glasses, poses a challenge for future network design and operations. XR/ARdevices require low latency and high throughput for comfortable use. This research aims to studythose requirements and experimentally understand the key networking and computing factors for gooduser experience under varying XR application and networking conditions in 5G and beyond scenarios,including a glimpse into holographic-type communications requirements and the expectations of 6G.
