Abstract The main goal of this project is to study the properties of galaxies in cosmic filaments, looking for correlations between observable properties obtained through galaxy imaging and the density and structure of the environment. In this way, we seek to obtain information about how the evolution of galaxies is affected in these filaments. The regions that will be studied are in the neighborhood of rich galaxy clusters which, as numerical simulations show, are preferentially located at the intersection or nodes of cosmic filaments. In this Scientific Initiation project the student will learn the fundamentals of using large databases, virtual observatories, detection of large-scale structures, and visualization and analysis of data related to galaxy photometry. | |
