Abstract

Introduction: A woman's life cycle encompasses several phases marked by hormonal changes. The climacteric refers to one of these phases and is characterized by the transition from the reproductive to the non-reproductive period, which is accompanied by physical, emotional and social symptoms that can cause doubts and uncertainties in women and compromise their quality of life. Objective: To evaluate the knowledge and perceptions of Brazilian women about the climacteric period. Method: This is a cross-sectional study in which data will be collected by completing online questionnaires by Brazilian women aged between 40 and 65 years. Participants will respond to the semi-structured form that will enable the identification of their social profile, gynecological and obstetric history, and information about knowledge of climacteric changes. Soon after these questionnaires, they will also respond to the menopause assessment scale, which assesses quality of life and menopause symptoms. The data will be analyzed using SPSS software, version 21.0, and the results will be presented in a descriptive manner. Categorical variables will be expressed in terms of frequency and percentage, and quantitative variables will be expressed as mean ± standard deviation.
